Welcome to Aarhus, year 2030.
As you enter the city’s smart streets, you can observe community gardens, and green roofs and facades integrated in the infrastructures as a recognition to Mother Nature on behalf of the Aarhusians. We have created an ecosystem where humans, together with animals, plants, birds, insects, and all other life forms, rejoice life and prosper together.
Our focus is to improve Aarhus’s municipal services in terms of energy, water, food supply, transportation, technology, waste, as well as security and communication.
Energy is no longer a problem anymore, but a solution. The city’s infrastructure is optimized to the latest energy building regulations. Wind energy and hydro-power as well as solar panels are the main sources for harnessing electricity, meeting and exceeding city demands. They also represent a major part in the trading business. Most of the money invested in those projects come from the city inhabitants, which now is a form of investment that has potential for financial income.
Advancement in molecular biology permit crop harvesting, vegetable and fruit plantations to flourish all year round even in the coldest days on winter or driest days of summer. Aarhus no longer imports products and thus has become the first self-sufficient city in the world in terms of food supply.
Since Aarhus is a waterfront city, fresh water is obtained by desalinizing salt water, as well as reutilization of storm water and rainwater via filtering facilities. With such abundance of fresh water, we will never have to worry about deficiency again.
Transportation, public or private vehicles are based on hybrid engines that run on lithium ion batteries and ionic liquid (salt water). As for the individuals, kinetic energy tools such as the e-bike, e-scooter or e-board, provide a quick and easy form of transportation.
For many years, we have maintained the status for the most efficient waste management system in Europe, and our goal is to inspire the world population to do the same. We continuously work on improving our waste-to-energy facilities in order to reduce the CO2 emissions and heating prices in a friendly and environmentally manner.
For the past 10 years, the municipality has included the population of Aarhus in responsible neighboring programs. The purpose of these programs is to educate the community to work together as a whole and spread awareness of any environmentally unfriendly actions. Until now, we have accomplished many successful missions and managed to reduce crime rate to the lowest in the world.
With over 30 years of experience in problem-based learning, the universities of Aarhus are globally recognized as some of the best education centers. People from all over the world have the opportunity to come and study, in most cases with no tuition tax. For people unable to take part to education centers in Aarhus, the technological institute offers a large variety of augmented reality apps that give the opportunity to study from anywhere in the world. Implementation of business ideas in collaboration with the local businesses are also encouraged with the purpose of promoting entrepreneurship and financial development.
As a matter of material availability, advances in 3D printing technology have reached to such an extent that we create our own materials, thus achieving a self-sufficient title in this field as well.
Aarhus had a vision 15 years ago, and that was to become the happiest, most environmentally friendly and inspiring city in the world and even though some research confirms the fact, we wish to share our knowledge and implement our goal on a global scale by year 2100. We believe that together anything is possible!
